ABSTRACT
This paper will explore the evolving role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in high school education. It starts with a clear definition of ICT and its transformative impact on educational systems. Over the past decade, ICT has drastically changed how education is delivered, accessed, and experienced in high schools, which brings with it a host of opportunities and challenges. While ICT has the potential to significantly enhance learning, streamline administrative tasks, and foster communication between students and educators, it also introduces certain negative effects, such as digital distractions, increased inequality, and the potential for misuse of technology. Based on a survey, this paper examines both the positive and negative consequences of ICT adoption in an Alaskan high school setting. It analyzes how students, teachers, and administrators are coping with these changes. It finds that as ICT becomes more integrated into education, coping mechanisms evolve. At the same time, new strategies and tools are emerging to address the challenges and maximize the benefits. By examining how ICT is currently used in high school education, this research provide a unique view on its multifaceted impact on the educational experience, the ongoing process of adaptation of new technology, and ICT’s even greater improvements in the future of high school education.
