ABSTRACT

This paper examines the transformative impact of Information Communication Technology (ICT) on the transportation sector, focusing on how ICT innovations have reshaped service delivery, operational efficiency, and socio-economic dynamics across various transportation modes. Specifically, the paper addresses airline transportation, aircraft maintenance, and ride-hailing services. The research methodology involved a systematic review of empirical and qualitative data from industry stakeholders, along with an in-depth survey of ride-hailing services. Findings reveal that predictive maintenance software and digital twins have revolutionized aircraft maintenance by enhancing reliability and reducing downtime, while digital platforms like ride-hailing apps have redefined urban mobility, offering users unparalleled convenience and flexibility. This study highlights the substantial influence of digital technologies on operational efficiencies, customer service strategies, and the socio-economic impacts of these advancements. It explores the broader implications of these technological integrations, linking their immediate and long-term socio-economic effects. The conclusion reaffirms the pivotal role of ICT in modernizing and optimizing transportation, underscoring the ongoing need for innovation and policy development to effectively leverage these technologies.
